Wow, A LOT has happened since I last posted. Following our trip to Disneyland, we had more road trips to San Diego and Oregon. We celebrated Sophia's 3rd birthday, and Justin started Kindergarten. Whew! I can hardly keep up.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Justin started Kindergarten at the end of July. He attends Gehringer - home of the tigers! His teacher is Mrs. Lardieri. He likes school and has made lots of friends.
Justin attended a great preschool last year and began Kindergarten very well prepared. So well, in fact, that he's already knows what is being taught so far. We're practicing reading and writing at home so that he continues to move forward.
OREGON
We enjoyed our third trip to Oregon in July. Each trip gets more and more fun as the kids get older. This trip was the first to Nana and Papa Rogie's Oregon dream house. Nana planned it for over five years and finished construction last fall. It's built on a canal that leads to a river, with beautiful views of the canal, meadow and wildlife.
Papa Rogie's commute to his office is about eight steps. If he didn't have to walk around the bed, it would be about two. Must be nice! Take a look at the view out his office window. Mark says he'd never get any work done with that vista!
Justin spent a lot of time in one of Nana's kayaks and learned very quickly how to control it very well. He could turn, paddle forward and backward and push himself off the edge if got stuck. When Mark asked him how he learned how to do it so well, he replied, "I was born knowing how." Wow!
We enjoyed an outdoor concert (see the "dancing" pictures to your right), visited the High Desert Museum, went on a hike and rode our bikes. We also did lots of shopping. Something about not paying sales tax just makes it more fun!
Justin, Mark and Papa Rogie went fishing one day on Paulina Lake, the same place Justin caught his very first fish last year. Only one person caught a fish that day. Guess who it was?? Yep, Justin!
He and Papa Rogie cooked it for dinner that night and we all had a taste. Mmm-mm!
"MONKEY PARTY"
Justin, Sophia and their cousin, Dylan, all have summer birthdays. To make things easier this year, they had a combined surf/hula/monkey party at the "other" DiPietro's house. We went swimming, ate yummy Hawaiian food and basically acted like crazy monkeys. Auntie Shannon made everything look great! Thank you!
